Delhi College of Engineering, established in 1941, is one of
the pioneering institutions in the country in higher technical
education and research. Besides nurturing quality education
in engineering and technology, the College has been
instrumental in setting up a number of national projects
which include the College of Art, School of Planning and
Architecture, Delhi Institute of Technology and Indian
Institute of Technology, Delhi. The college caters to 6
full-time B.E. courses, 4 part-time B. E. Tech. courses
besides 10 post-graduate M.E. courses. The college
also caters for Ph.D. level research under the Faculty
of Technology, University of Delhi. The college is
presently located at its historic site at Kashmere Gate since
inception. The new campus of the college is coming up at
Badli, spread over 165 acres. The new campus is carefully
planned to provide an academic environment commensurate with the requirements of an institution
of higher learning.
A unique feature of academic activities at D.C.E. is that the students as well as the teachers are provided ample opportunities for their professional development. Each year, a host of professional activities which includes seminars, symposia, short-term courses, competitions for innovative working models and student research paper contests, etc. are organized at the college. Such activities besides improving interaction with other academic institutions and industries also provide avenues for manifestation of students' and faculty's innovative and creative talent.
It is indeed a matter of pride for the college community that one of our final year Mechanical Engg. students, Shri. Pawan Kumar Sharma was adjudged as the best student of the University of Delhi based on his overall performance including excellence in academics, extra-curricular activities, conduct and character. Sh. Pawan Sharma received the highly coveted President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal for the year 1994. The college pride was further enhanced by Shri Harsh Vardhan Chugh, a D.C.E. graduate of 1992 Civil Engineering who topped in Indian Engineering Services - 1993 examination conducted by the U.P.S.C. In the year 1995, the DCE graduates have secured both the first as well as the second position in the UPSC Engineering Services Examination. They have been highly sought -after by the leading national as well as multi-national industries and organizations.
Shri Sukhbir Singh, graduate of 1996 this year, has bagged the Outstanding Leadership Award from IEEE, USA. Our honor has been enhanced and our pride has further been enriched by Shri Vikas Sehgal, Abhijeet Virmani and Shri Bharat Gupta receiving the outstanding professional leadership awards from SAE, ASHRAE and ASME, three world renowned professional bodies whose student chapters are established in DCE. This way,
DCE has earned the unique reputation of being the only institution in engineering and technology which has five student chapters of the world acclaimed professional societies-a distinction not even attained by any of the IITs !
